At the 2025 Local Bar Leaders Conference, sponsored by the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association was awarded the Deborah G. Hankinson Access to Justice Award for Division III.

At the annual State Bar of Texas Meeting in San Antonio in June, several Austin attorneys were honored for their contributions to the legal profession. 

The Austin Bar Foundation has awarded $32,000 in its 2025 grant cycle. 

Travis County Court Administrator Warren Vavra has announced he will retire in early 2026.

In the next episode of Council of Firsts, Amanda Arriaga, first Latina president of the Austin Bar Association, sits down with all six justices of Texas’ Third Court of Appeals. For the first time in the state’s history, the Third Court of Appeals is comprised of all women.

TRLA is providing legal assistance to eligible survivors of Kerr County federal-declared floods and state-declared floods in Bandera, Bexar, Burnet, Comal, Caldwell, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Kendall, Kimble, Llano, Mason, Reeves, Travis, and Williamson counties.

At the end-of-year reception, outgoing Austin Bar President Mary-Ellen King and AYLA President Emily Morris presented their President’s Awards to highlight the important contributions of several members of their organizations.
