In honor of Veterans Day, the Austin Bar wishes to thank all of our veteran members. Following are interviews with several members who served our nation. They share how their service lends itself to their legal careers.

The Austin Bar Foundation is honored to receive a $25,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation in support of its Veterans Legal Assistance Program (VLAP)

The Austin Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) was one of the winners of the 2025 Texas Free Legal Answers Summer of Service competition as part of the Central Region group, which won by answering the most questions and having the highest attorney participation. 

AYLA is hosting our ninth-annual Tailgate for a Cause fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 22, for the UT vs Arkansas game.

The Austin Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) celebrated the 25th anniversary of its signature Evening with the Judiciary event.

The following are case descriptions and outcomes reported by veterans who successfully had their cases handled by the Austin Bar Foundation’s Veterans Legal Assistance Program (VLAP). Names have been changed to protect anonymity. 

At its September quarterly meeting in Austin, the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors presented Austin Bar member Laura S. Fowler with the following resolution honoring her contributions to the legal profession and the community at large.

The AYLA/Austin Bar Leadership Academy assists Austin-area lawyers in making a difference in our community and in service to the Bar. A class of lawyers from the Austin Bar and AYLA will be selected from applications submitted by lawyers of all areas of practice, firm size, and levels of experience.
