This year’s AYLA Day of Service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was a powerful reminder that service is at the heart of leadership. AYLA volunteers showed up in a big way across the Austin community, serving with organizations like BIG, Inside Books Project, Generation Serve, and the Central Texas Food Bank. Volunteers also donated books through BookSpring, created Valentine’s Day cards for seniors in the community, donated blood through We Are Blood, and contributed to the Diaper Bank and Seedling. AYLA thanks every volunteer and partner organization for their time, energy, and compassion in honor of Dr. King’s legacy.

AYLA members supported the Central Texas Food Bank on MLK Day as part of their Annual Day of Service.

AYLA members and their families leaned on their creative skills to create Valentine’s Day cards for seniors in the community during their Annual Day of Service.

AYLA members and their children worked with Generation Serve to create Valentine’s decor for Foundation Communities, an organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and support services to families and individuals in Austin.

AYLA member families provided support for Book Spring during their Annual Day of Service. Book Spring aims to increase literacy and love of reading in under-resourced households by providing free, engaging books for home libraries.
