The Austin Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) celebrated the 25th anniversary of its signature Evening with the Judiciary event. Set inside the charming Chateau Bellevue mansion in downtown Austin, the annual gathering brought together young lawyers and Austin’s judiciary. Young lawyers had the opportunity to introduce themselves to local, state, and federal judges they will practice before throughout their careers in a relaxed environment.
More than 150 judges and young lawyers met and mingled over drinks, steak sliders, truffled arancini, chicken and artichoke skewers, and much more, as they became acquainted with one other. Judges from across the judicial spectrum joined AYLA this year to socialize with young lawyers.
This milestone event was celebrated with cake and a display of framed photos from past years’ gatherings—featuring judges and (now not-so-young) lawyers—to mark the anniversary. Judges and lawyers pictured at previous events who attended were able to take the photos of themselves home as keepsakes. All judges who attended were invited to sign a placard that will be framed commemorating their attendance.
This hallmark event is an important testament to how welcoming Austin’s judiciary is. Each year, judges enthusiastically attend, excited to meet new young lawyers. The judges encourage young lawyers to be confident in their abilities in court and ensure AYLA members are initiated positively into the professional practice of law.
